Parker J Pfister Bio
about this artist (short story)
I must start by asking the question, what is a photograph? The dictionary states,
“A photograph is an image created by light falling on a light-sensitive photographic medium. Most photographs are created using a camera, which uses a lens to focus the scene’s light into a reproduction of what the human eye would see.” This is the technical side of the definition. My definition is, a photograph is an image or likeness that documents life, death, joy, sadness, fear and strength. A photograph should stir emotions in side of you the viewer. A photograph is alive and should always beg more questions than answers. It shouldn’t matter what kind of camera makes a photograph. It shouldn’t matter if it is a film or digital photograph. It shouldn’t matter if it is a silver or digital photograph. The only thing that matters is how it makes you feel. 3 comments where is this happening. Mystic, CT. stunning frames… “The Trench Report”
Perhaps you are talking to the wrong people, hearing what you want or only getting 1/2 the story. People encourage you to “Raise Your Prices” and say nothing about raising the level of your photography. We attend endless seminars on how to “See The Light” and less time is spent talking about the importance of the “Quality of Light”. We get caught up in “What Equipment” our favorite photographer uses so we can emulate them instead of creating something new ourselves. Stop competing with others and start challenging yourself by joining us as we breakdown the business of photography, growing your photographic ability, & understanding your client.

Mystic Seminars 2013 Speaker and Hands On Instructor . MY MISTAKES with POSING & COMPOSITION “The Blunders of Beckstead!” A very informative and entertaining experience! “I’ve learned so much from my mistakes…I’m thinking of making a few more.” David’s been making mistakes as a photographer for 25 years and as a full time pro for 16 years, and still makes them all the time. And they’ve helped him grow as an artist. It’s not every day that a photographer named to the inaugural list of Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the world will tear his own work to shreds! David will share beautiful artistry and composition that will leave you impressed. And then he’ll search for what’s wrong with these images, as he studies, and studies more, to improve his work. This selfless and open display from an expert will help you critically assess your own work, as David explores posing rules and compositional concepts. 3 Takeaways: 1. You’ll learn posing and composition rules and when to break them. 2. When the technical mistakes don’t matter and when they absolutely matter! 3. How to critically (and lovingly) deconstruct and critique your own work no comments wahoooo

CREATING A SEXY BUSINESS – Business and Branding for Photographers in an Ever-Increasing heap of Competition
If we are going to book clients in the real world we have to clearly define who we are, why we matter and what we have to offer. All that stuff actually has to make sense to your clients and be distinct from the other photographers you’re up against. The good news is that you can actively develop a compelling, distinct brand that clients will be able to spot from a mile away and want to hire for the price you want to make.
We’re going to talk business and making the financial side of things as creative as the photography. And we’re definitely going to talk about making your business as attractive (read – SEXY) as possible to your intended client in a way that is based entirely on internal factors – making it nearly impossible to copy. And we’ll talk about actually implementing and communicating your brand with the understanding that there are no rules, and that many of the established industry conventions are actually keeping clients AWAY from you.
